Day 77 of 100 Days
Thursday, 18th March 2021
I received a lovely letter from my friend Zena today. She’s writing a letter to someone every day for the 40 days of Lent, so she must be coming to an end very soon! In it, she enclised two ranunculus seeds, which she’s asked me to plant on or after (but not before) 20th March, so that’s something for me to get on with this weekend. I think it’s a beautiful gesture, as even though I have no idea what ranunculus are, I'm looking forward to finding out. I’m more into growing tomato plants than anything else, but let’s see where I get with these!
What: Shopping for a neighbour
Organisation: Age UK
I went shopping for Lady S today, which ended up being a bit of a disappointment because most of the stuff she wanted wasn’t in stock, so I’m guessing that Thursday isn’t a great day to go shopping in Asda – although I’ve never had a problem before.
On a more positive note, I was able to get some clematis climbers for my mother in-law – three for a fiver, what a bargain! Also, there are now 40 people in the Fruit and Veg Seed Swap WhatsApp Group, and I picked-up an Aloe Vera plant from one of my neighbours this week - it's really cool. I’ve got some strawberry cuttings and a couple of orchids that I could offer up to the group, because they're taking up space and I want them to go to good homes. Also, my sister has a shedload of trees she can give out, because she seems to be obsessed with planting apple seeds at the moment, and her flat will turn into a forest if she keeps them all.
What: Fundraising catch-up
Organisation: Transforming Autism Project
There wasn’t that much to catch-up on because we are in full-flow with this fundraising project. I’m expecting the majority of funds to come through in the last week of March/first week of April, as that is when March For Autism is taking place. I’ll certainly expect my family to pitch-in for Seth’s walk in the last week of March.
There was a bit of a turn in the cricket today. England won the toss, but they lost the match! The series is now drawn 2-2, with everything pinned on the final match, which at the very least keeps it interesting. India have been playing really well, and they have some new youngsters coming through the ranks and both teams have everything to play for on Saturday.
