Day 64 of 100 Days

I was back at the Fresh Food Bank again today, and it was really good to see the gang of councillors again. I never thought I’d ever hear myself saying that I look forward to hanging out with my local councillors – but I now do! There it is, I said it. For as long I can, I’m going to continue to volunteer at the food bank, because it’s a good use of my time, and one of the positive side effects is it helps me get my daily exercise quota, because it's very physical work.

What: Food bank volunteering
Organisation: The Fresh Food Bank

It was really good at the FFB today, because I got to spend some time talking to Reverend Steven, who is the reverend at St Michael’s church and helps run the food bank. I had met him previously the first time I volunteered at the FFB, but because it was around Christmas time it was really busy, so I didn’t really get to talk to him. He wasn’t there last week because he was getting his second Covid jab, but this week, he was back in action and running the show. He was born in to a Chinese family in Singapore, but he identifies as British because he's been here for such a long time. Every week, he makes lunch for everyone, and he’s just one of the nicest people that I’ve met recently. It’s strange, how all of a sudden, when you least expect it, you’re reminded of the reasons why you do things like volunteering, and meeting Rev. Steven properly is one of those things. I’m so pleased that I was able to spend a little bit of time getting to know more about him, and I feel sure we’ll become friends. Today for lunch, he cooked an omelette, which we had with some of Agatha’s Caribbean rice. Agatha is one of the councillors, and by the sounds of things, she is constantly collecting new friends and doing amazing things for her family, neighbours and constituents. I’ve promised her some tomato plants when I’ve grown them - I'm planning to start sowing my seeds tomorrow.

What: Setting-up Google Analytics
Organisation: Reverse The Trend
When I got home, I was able to set-up Google Analytics for Reverse The Trend. We need it to track conversions from the Google Ads that our new Spanish students are setting-up for us. It was really easy to set-up, but I won’t know if it’s worked until tomorrow – so fingers-crossed!
